A clutch is an important part of your motorbike, and there's more to it than the lever on the left handlebar. The clutch assembly is the one that is actually responsible for your bike's smooth performance. An inner clutch assembly consists of a clutch housing, a clutch hub, a clutch centre, clutch plates (friction plates and steel plates), a clutch lifter, clutch springs and bolts. The clutch assembly disengages/engages with the crankshaft of the engine to transmit power to the input shaft of the gearbox. When you press the clutch lever, the clutch lifterputs pressure on the clutch pack that has friction plates and steel plates arranged alternatively. The friction plate is designed to fit in the gaps and interlock with the clutch housing and rotates with it, while the steel plate interlocks with the clutch hub without affecting the clutch housing. As these plates can slide sideways, we can press them together, gradually increasing friction so that both of them start acting like a unit.
This way, if we rotate the outer basket, the inner hub will also rotate. This will eventually transfer power from the engine to the gearbox. If we release the pressure, the two plates become independent. This will disconnect the hub from the basket and the engine power is disconnected. Even if one part wears off, or not fitted properly, the entire system would suffer. It's recommended that you replace the entire clutch assembly when changing the clutch rather than individual parts for various reasons. Company Calibration – All assemblies are calibrated using a torque wrench for equal pressure distribution on all the bolts. When the same company creates various parts of the assembly, the quality and the performance of all the parts would be optimal. Optimization - This will also ensure that the mating parts match perfectly, thus increasing the overall performance and efficiency of the clutch. Cost Saving - Getting the entire assembly replaced at once will ensure that you save on the cost of replacing separate parts, not to forget the time it will again take to do the same. We recommend that you purchase the MK Lide Clutch Assemblies that use all parts that meet OEM standards and are manufactured on Special Purpose Machines for zero defects.
